Back to Sea
Saleor started as something scrappy — builders building for other builders. The new site is live, and we're back to our origins: git push origin sea!
Saleor began scrappy — builders creating for other builders. We’ve always cared about working in the open and doing cool things with code to push ecommerce forward. This Saleor webpage redesign aims to channel exactly that: sails up builders!
What we’re trying to do (other than look cool)
- Be authentic. Still technical, still nerdy.
- Cut the fluff. Every now and then, you find yourself talking LinkedIn.
- Make everything link to docs. So we can’t lie even if we tried.
- Be honest about who Saleor isn’t for. Saves everyone time.
Design proposed to create a brand deck. It accidentally became a code review. Ended up debating microservices.
Authenticity & openness
We build for teams who actually want to build. If you want a 100% black box, that’s not us. If you want APIs, events, and components you can compose and control — welcome aboard.
We build for merchants, too. Because builders don’t build in a vacuum — they build for the people who have to move products, manage orders, and deal with real-life chaos.
Not just headless. Ruthless.
Coming up with the final_final_finalestest8_last_124 in Figma was just a cherry on the top. These few weeks of AI and teamwork explorations — the process worth describing in more details by itself — was a lot of fun. For now, here are a couple of vibe concepts that inspired some of the final work.

Thousands of hours later we emerged with a design that reflects simplicity and tech that we like.
Why sailing (and a little piracy)
Saleor name was derived from sailor and tailor. It is craft — navigation, discipline, small decisions compounding into speed, agility, and freedom. Piracy is the refusal to accept defaults. Together: explore, break what needs breaking, and ship something better.
And it’s been with Saleor from the onset.
Pixels we love
If you don’t remember Monkey Island or the original Prince of Persia, you should catch up. Pixels are cool — honest, authentic, and we love them. We want to bring more of that spirit into the new design, for now, we like how they illustrate our blog covers.
Work in progress
This is a live migration. Some pages are still moving over and some creative concepts are waiting for more time to complete. Expect fresh cuts, sharper docs, and more examples as we go. If something feels rough, tell us — we’re listening.
Be a builder. Build what others cannot buy.
See you on deck. 🏴☠️
